Heavenly Hammock Hire was established in 2005, responding to my personal experience of the difficulty in finding a baby hammock hire option in Perth. Whilst the are other operators, their stock is so low that I was only able to access a hammock for a short time due to a forward booking. As my child responded so well to the hammock I was left with no option other than purchasing a hammock. This lack of stock resulted in the establishment of Heavenly Hammock Hire. We only hire Amby Baby Hammocks, and all hammocks are less than three years old and are in great condition. The hammocks are washed and ironed after every hire, ready for the next family.

From my own experience of using Amby Baby Hammocks for my two children I have been amazed at the health and emotional bebnfits for both baby and parents. My two children both had severe reflux and my first child also had colic and a torticollis (shortening of the neck muscle on one side). Sleeping and laying flat were big issues for both,  and they required the gentle upright incline of the hammock to assist them in keeping their milk down and prevent acid rising. Both slept for 10 hours at night by week 6 and went on to develop excellent sleeping regimes.

I transitioned my daughter from hammock to cot at eight months (she was addicted to it!) and my son at three months.  Most babies transition between 3-6 months of age as they become more mobile.

I enjoy meeting and having contact with parents of new babies, so this business has been more about fulfilling that desire rather than becoming an income generating mechanism. I work elsewhere part time so pick up and drop off times are often in the evenings or weekends, which tends to suit most customers anyway. Many will send their relatives or partners to pick up on their behalf which is also fine.

Being a parent is an amazing and wonderful role, but can be physically and emotionally exhausting when you are not getting regular sleep. Hopefully my business will enable families experiencing sleep difficulties to get some much needed rest.
